The dancers of TeresaChampionDanceAcademy had an amazing and fun filled weekend.We did not know what to expect with Dancers Rock and now know that is was an amazing learning and sharing experience.My dancers and parents were very excited and pleased with the dance and business education they received.My students are ready to fund raise to get to Nationals and return to Houston next year.Just in this one weekend many of my students came out of their shells and really exploded.I told one of them who is extremely shy and doesn't like to move or talk a lot that she was my Standout Dancer.Just in those two days I saw a little girl and dancer I had never seen before.She was moving and shaking and smiling and she was even talking ( I never hear her talk she always just nods her head). As for me this experience was a lot of fun and stress free.I was able to enjoy taking class with my dancers and learning new methods of teaching and choreographing.The environment was very positive which made me feel like I was part of your family.I know the family business I am third generation dancer and Janette is fourth generation.It’s nice to know that family plays a big part in your organization. ~Annette F. ~Studio Owner I want to let you know that I just loved the Dallas Convention. It was absolutely wonderful. Everyone I know loved it. The kids were never frustrated or bored they danced every class both days without wanting to take a break. Hi Tina Marie, Josh and I wanted to thank you and Garrett again for a wonderful weekend experience! All of my students who attended, from the 6 year olds to the college kids, had a fabulous time. We have had excellent feedback from all of the parents too. They are beyond thrilled. The concept of teaching students about the importance of cross-training, auditions, and how to actually survive in this business financially were paramount in the weekend’s success. We have been offering voice and acting classes with local professionals since we opened in 2005 with not much success. I think you just gave our students some real perspective, and several are now looking to expand their horizons and study voice and or acting in addition to their dance training! Also breaking up the dance day with classes that were fun, educational, but also NOT dance classes was the main reason all of the students stayed upbeat and positive throughout the weekend. I knew they were exhausted! They had to be! But even Sunday afternoon they were bouncing off the walls and giggling. At the end of a convention they normally look deflated! (I know Josh and I were beat!) I can’t tell you how emotional this weekend has been for us. When I came into the Jr. and Sr. Audition Classes to sit for a bit, I was completely unprepared for what I was about to see. I watched two of our shyest, most reserved students, freestyle like they meant it. The absolute shocker was when you asked them if they wanted to sing, FOUR of my kids just got up there and gave it a shot. I didn’t ever think I’d see them go for it like that – not one of them has ever sang solo outside of the shower. I was so amazed and overwhelmed by the time one sang (with a light, sweet soprano I knew she had only ever used singing hymns at church on Sunday ALONG with everyone else), that I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. I learned several had some potential acting skills. It was just an amazing experience for me to see them go for it like that – in an environment that was unfamiliar territory.
